Let the Sun In (A Sun for Every Door), 2019
House paint intervention.
Inspired by American Modernist Designer Alexander Girard’s lifelong pursuit as a folk art collector, I've taken to collecting visual representations of the sun. When invited by Alex Reed to participate in House Museum, a group exhibition in a soon-to-be-rented house in the Los Angeles Highland Park neighborhood, I opted to paint a sun on every door. Painted in Cathedral City Grapefruit and standardized in size, these suns served to as a point of warm punctuation for bodies moving throughout the space (the suns were left on the doors for the house’s new occupants).
Curated by Alex Reed with architecture by Office Kovacs, November to December, 2019.
